Apparel
A small, deliberate range — hoodies, knit sets, fleece and outerwear chosen because they work for the warm-up, the cool-down, and the rest of the day. No hundred near-identical t-shirts.
How to layer for a cold run
- Base — snug and synthetic or merino. Cotton holds sweat and turns cold; leave it at home.
- Mid — fleece or knit for insulation, easy to strip once you warm up.
- Outer — wind and water protection only when conditions call for it.
The old rule still holds: dress for about 10°F / 5°C warmer than it is. If you're comfortable standing outside before you start, you're overdressed.
